ProjectPier dead?

Is project pier dead? I mean, I'm not trying to troll or disrespect anyone; just finding out. The development has stopped?
The forum doesn't seem to have much activity besides requests; it doesn't seem to be advancing much besides the guy who did the release as projectpier and the one that has railscollab.
It looks more like a dead project to me, I'm right?

I mean, sorry for saying it; but it looks like only the guy that releases security fixes and is in charge of the project is moving forward, the rest of the community has stopped at some point...
was about to post my theme, but it looks like people will just download it and won't give anything back to the project...

Hey javier,

Most of what one hears about ProjectPier development comes from the irc channel on Freenode. Or at least that is my interpretation of the current status quo.

For open source projects in general, there are inevitably more people requesting features (and so on) than there are active contributors. ProjectPier is no exception to this.

As for whether or not to release your theme, it's hard to say. I suspect if it is any good you will get some nice constructive feedback on it, judging from the response the Marina theme got.

With regards to RailsCollab, there has been very little interest in it (despite my various efforts over the past few months) and thus it can pretty much be considered dead. A pity, yes - but at least ProjectPier is still here.

To answer your original question - ProjectPier dead? No. Rather, RailsCollab dead - long live ProjectPier! :)

We're absolutely not dead. How can you say that?

Check out the activity in the bug tracker:

We just released 0.8.0.2 the other day:

Have a look at the actual code that's being committed in SVN:

We've very busy working towards a 0.8.5 release. Help us get there!

Yea, I think we could do a better job on our end on communicating exactly what we are working on. The dev groups have been on fire over the last few weeks getting ready for the big 0.8.5 release! I'll talk with the rest of the crew and see if we can do a "Weekly Update" to keep everyone informed of whats being worked on and whats going on.

I'd really like to see these weekly/regular status reports.

Since the "Recent comments" block was removed from the homepage, there is less interaction visible for a visitor. A regular blog post will be very helpful.

BTW (mostly for Ryan) - can you give an update about the # of users, downloads etc. based on Drupal's statistics and the Google Analytics data. I just looked at the world map in GA and was really impressed when I think back that we started last May at zero :-)
