There seem to be a significant number of users who have registered with the site but never actually logged on at that point. I'm not sure if there is a bug/error in the registration process or what the issue might be. It might be useful to post a message on the main site asking for users who have experienced this.
I just registered here and able to login without any issues at all.
I have a site where many registered but never logged in, so it seems totally normal that some people never shows up again.
