Client areas

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if Project Pier is cabable of doing the following

A client logs into their own private area when they want you to make an addition to their site. They add a request in that area. They don't send an email. They don't call you on the phone. They LOG it in the site as a request.

You then accept the request in the forum OR discuss it with them by replying to their forum post. Once you are both happy with the request, you add it as a task. Then after the task is complete, you enter in the hours spent or simply that the project was completed.

The customer logs in whenever they want to run a report to see a list of tasks you have accomplished for them and they still haven't had to pick up the phone to bother you.

Also I know the Devs are busy but the site seems a little quiet, where can I keep upto date on whats going on and if the project is still alive. The site seems to be a little quiet and that is maybe reflected in teh number of people posting in the forums?

You can create a form in the project called 'Request feature'. You can then set this form to create a new message when submitted (which would be the forum thread). There is no time tracking functionality in the codebase atm, there is a patch in the issue tracker if you are comfortable using subversion. Check out the dev manual if you aren't.

To stay up to date with developments in the codebase, take a look at the dev mailing list http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=195833

thanks Alex,

Are there any RSS feeds for the mailing list?

I presume from your answer that clients do have an area they can view/log into which was something I was not sure about.

I need to take a look at my available time and then I would like to contribute to PP in some way. I am no great coder but maybe can help out in some other way, maybe as someone who keeps the front end website ticking along and keeping people informed whats going on, marketing the project etc.

Paul

P.S also where can I find the SVN details for connecting and downloading the latest build.
