Email on GoDaddy

I can't get the email to work. Should I be using PHP or SMTP on Godaddy? Are there any settings I need to tweak to get this working?
I can't send out invites or anything..
any insight greatly appreciated..
I should point out that i'm getting the error:
Missing lang: test mail recipient: *Where it is supposed to say recipient.
I AM receiving a Returned Mail containing the messages. The returned mail says something like this:
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----<********@hotmail.com>
(reason: 553 sorry, your mail was administratively denied. (#5.7.1))
501 5.6.0 Data format error
please help me resolve this. I saw a patch for something like this but I have no idea how to instal a *.patch file. ANd not even sure if that is the problem.

summary: we fixed bruticus's problem by setting PP to use the default php email settings. He is still have an issue sending emails from his hotmail account, but all other emails work fine and the remaining issue was determined to a problem with his godaddy email setup. I suggested using an alternate email account as a workaround until the root problem can be resolved with godaddy.
for your help. I am just using my other email account and it seems to work great.
I would like to use my other email address but its not a big deal. I'm still baffled as to why I can't use that email address if anyone has had a similar experience i'd like to understand. My Godaddy hosted email address WAS forwarding to my hotmail account. But i changed that and it didn't seem to fix anything.
